An improved and impressive 2nd half couldn't halt the Warriors bad run as Green Stars win the club's 1st encounter.

The Warriors traveled to Aberavon to play the Green Stars club for the first time but it was another case of good game, shame about the result.

The club who include players with learning difficulties took a strong squad East but couldn't quite come away with the result.

It was the visitors who started strongly and 2nd row turned pressure to points with a well struck penalty. However the Stars soon got into their stride and scored an excellent long range effort streaking down the right wing. They were awarded a 2nd despite Warriors protestations and salt was rubbed in the wound when the referee disallowed Adam Davies a try for the Warriors leaving the Warriors 10-3 adrift.
The Home side pressed their advantage in the 2nd quarter and two more tries saw them with a substantial lead at the break.

Despite being behind, the Warriors were playing better than the scoreline suggested. The back-line looked sharp with Simon Day especially threatening and line outs were providing them with good ball. Some fresh legs helped in the 2nd half and finally some scores came. Nathan Murphy skipped through some tackles for the 1st try before the move of the game. Adam Davies attacking from full back got the Warriors past the first line of defense, quick offloads including a neat reverse pass from Gwilym Lewis, great support from Andrew Davies and then hands across the line saw Murphy cross again. A quick tap penalty saw Fussell score to get the Warriors thinking of sneaking the result.
There was more positive rugby with Williams and Darren Pollitt running hard, whilst in defence Williams and Yanis Whiteley tackled hard. The Green Stars scored another good try to make the game safe but the Warriors had the last word with Jon Kearney striding in to end an entertaining encounter.

While the result proved elusive, respect was certainly earned. Afterwards Rhydian Williams edged out Darren Pollitt to be named Man Of The Match.

Warriors XV:
Ryan Morgan, Ben Kitson (Jonathan Kearney), Adam Davies, Lewis Borja, Simon Day, Nathan Murphy, Craig James, Mark Lewis (Jordan Jones), Richard Evans (Cpt), Colin Tacon, Rhydian Williams (John Horwood), Andrew Davies (Darren Pollitt), Yanis Whiteley (Nathan Lawson), Tomos Hall (Dai Haines), Gwilym Lewis (Adam Fussell).
Scorers: Rhydian Williams (Pen, 2 Cons), Nathan Murphy (2 Tries), Jonathan Kearney (Try)
Seren y Gem: Rhydian Williams

Sneaky appearance for Green Stars: Ben Kitson.

A first trip to Aberavon with a small convey of vehicles arriving safely in the middle of sunny Sandfields. Although the result was never in doubt, it was a good performance from the Warriors with a lot of good rugby played. Great to see Big Rhyd make a tackle and if he was only a bit bigger he might have stretched over for a try. Carig, Nathan and Lewis provided lots of jinky jinky stuff and Simon Day seems to improve every game (now stop pretending your hurt every time someone tackles you!).

Afterwards Rich spoke well and Rhyd drank deeply. A quick Llyr led singsong on the way home and everyone is a winner (even if we lost again)
