The Warriors sportingly agreed to play 12 a side in this match with the Swansea Vikings but then slipped to another defeat.

Both sides were missing a number of key players but 12 a side suited the quicker Vikings team whilst the Warriors strength was upfront.

After conceding two very early tries through simple mis organisation and some fleet footed Vikings, the Warriors eventually found some rhythm. They continued to ship scores like a simple bounce from kick off resulting in a try, but they rumbled up field and Mark Lewis eventually got the 1st of two scores.

The Warriors did well in the set piece and I the forwards generally but with the majority of the backline playing out of position they lacked pace and so were susceptible to anything wide. The Warriors dominance was through slow rumbles from the likes of Colin Tacon and John Horwood and so it was a lot of effort for any territory and possession. They never quite threatened the lead but scored good tries though Tom Hall, Gwilym Lewis and Gareth Ladd.

Andrew Davies slotted a conversion to go with his excellent lineout work but the stand out performances were in the backs who were stretched continually with Andrew Ladd edged off the man of the Match award by the tough tackling Johnathan Kearney.

Llanelli Warriors: Gareth Ladd, Thomas Ashour (Nathan Jones/Simon Day), Andrew Ladd, Johnathan Kearney, Ben Winstanley, Jamie Evans, Gwilym Lewis, Mark Lewis (Mike James), Richard Evans, Colin Tacon (Gareth McKibbon), John Horwood (Darren Pollitt), Andrew Davies, Jordan Jones (Tomos Hall/Nathan Lawson)

Tries: M Lewis (2), G Lewis, Hall, Ladd

Ar-wel, never mind the rugby, the Warriors Queen tribute did bring in the prizes at the Burry Port Buy the Club Stars in their Eyes leading to a new song in the repertoire - “WE Are the 4th Placed, Weeeeee are the 4th placed...” Well done to Freddie (Day Dream) Bambi Marley/May, Polly as Roger Taylor and Roger Deacon (Hapus) ably (if not willingly) backed by SO FI AH, Jamie, Craig, Jon K, Nathan M, New Nathan and Jumpin’ (whilst Gareth Pies disappeared).
