Warriors Quashed at Quins but enjoy the day

A good day for mixed ability rugby with the Bumbles, Chiefs and Warriors all playing at the Cardiff Quins ground - but no on field joy.

The day after the night before, the Warriors picked up the pieces from their previous evenings H Bomb victory and headed into Cardiff for Wales v England and a quick match with the Quins before hand.

No surprise that numbers were down on the previous evening (though 43 to 18 is some going) but the most disappointing was Ben Win's late refusal. Luckily the Warriors cunning ruse of playing alongside the Chiefs/Bumbles match meant that they could draft in a couple of extras and with Kerdiff exile Dan Bryant and Crolla dashing back from Sheffield there were at least some players half awake.

The injuries kept coming though, Rich Hapus & Daydream both still had bad ankles (though Daydream managed lots of dancing) and couldn't manage more than a little hobble and Big Kearney's back gave up.

Not sure if tiredness made the Quins looked bigger but it certainly felt that way. They soon set about enjoying themselves, chucking the ball about and flattening various beleaguered Warriors without mercy.

Amongst the whirl of purple, Tom had another big game, Tarw managed to flatten someone and Dylan Crolla but some great tackles in as he switched between wing and prop as injuries dictated. The same people scored - Jamie performing a minor miracle just standing up properly for the game showed that the hangover was effecting his game as he kicked uncharacteristically well and ran in for a try. Thomas Edwards also got his 2nd in two days but they were outdone by Will Tomlinson who added to his two efforts for the Bumbles with another strong run.

Skill of the day was hotly contested with Gwil dropping a kick off, Simon Jenkins penalty kick going backwards and Dan John just dropping the ball once he had broken clear. Dick of the day though was BEN! Kudos to the players who had a big night before and played through- Craig, Simon, Tomos, Nathan, Jamie and Dan: good effort!

Youseff was named Man of the Match for a determined effort and it was off to the bar to catch up with the others - no surprise that both the sides that had played the night before lost with the Chiefs pipping the Bumbles in an apparently excellent encounter.

It was then into Fuel, Cardiff for the girls with the shiny beads...
There was a bit of rugby on the telly - WALES SMASHING ENGLAND ALL OVER THE MILLENIUM STADIUM TO HALT THE TALK OF GRAND SLAMS AND SUPERIORITY!!!! YEAH!! COME ON CYMRU!!!!!!! And we were SING-ING.... :) :) :)

Perhaps we had better sort a Cardiff fixture alongside the Ireland match after all.

Warriors: Dirty Dan John, Simon Day (Crolla roller roller), Special K (Dan Bryant), Murphy, Tom Ed, Jamie Zzzzs, Craig (George Morris), Youseff, Hapus (Cpt) (Jason 2 Guns), Colin Tacon Powder (Will Tomlinson), Darren Polly, Lloydipop (Jumpin' John Horwood), Sim Jenks, Tominator, Gwil Chief

Ref: Tom Griffin (who despite his array of gaily coloured garments still hasn't reffed us to a win!)

Thanks to all the Quins players - glad you enjoyed it, hope you give the Dragon All-Stars and Chiefs a game soon!
