Warriors 1st match against non integrated opposition

The Warriors opened their 1st full season against SWT at Burry Port. It was their 1st game against anyone who wasn't the Swansea Gladiators.

A large crowd turned up to watch the historic occasion and enjoy some excellent weather.
The team were led from the changing rooms to the pitch by the Celtic Warrior (see photos) in full costume complete with war paint and bugle.

Unfortunately the Warriors were edged out in this close game with the SWT forwards rucking proving particularly effective. Lee Rowlands became the 1st Warriors to substain a serious injury when he broke his collar bone.

There was some stick for linesman Lewi afterwards with accusations that he had been biased towards the bus drivers as he could then travel for free.
Andrew Russ and Gwilym Lewis shared a half each at centre/back row.
Before the match there was a photo preview on the front of the Evening Post and afterwards the Llanelli Star had a photo from the game (see photos)

Warriors XV: Lee Rowlands, Andrew Webb, Andrew Russ, Gary James, Stephen Walley, Roger Bowen, Julian Thomas, Edward McVicar, Edward Williams, Mathew Perrot, John Horwood, Gary Williams, Raymond Millet (Cpt), David Newson, Gwilym Lewis.
Subs (all played): Chris Bonar (prop), Daryl Watkins (prop), Darren Hall (2nd row), Colin Talcon (wing), Paul 'Picton' Jones, Hywel Watkins (?)
scorers: tries: Ed Williams, Raymond Millet, Andrew Webb (2) AN Other,
