The Warriors might have hoped for a different result from their rematch with the CIACs, but again found themselves undone

On a bad day for the National team, this was a good grass roots rugby occasion. CIACs brought a large squad plus support down to Burry Port to play the Llanelli Warriors, who had two debutants amongst another large match day squad.

The game itself saw too positive sides looking to move the ball at every opportunity, keeping a decent crowd entertained.

CIACs proved too strong for the Warriors who tackling was indifferent at times. Their forwards obviously enjoying the open spaces made far too much ground and from there tries were inevitable. They racked up 5 1st half tries while the Warriors struggled to muster sustained attack.

Lloyd Crawley, stand in Captain, kept his troops positive though and the 2nd half was a far more even affair. With injuries affecting the CIACs line out, the Warriors were able to get front foot possession. After going close several times, they eventually worked it wide for centre Rhys Evans to score in the corner. Busy scrum half Mathew Hinder scrambled over for a score shortly afterwards and the team began to play more positively, personified by veteran prop Colin Tacon.

CIACs were still attacking with abandon and got another back but the Warriors were at least demonstrating their skill set. No8 Adam Fussell earnt Man of the Match for his aggressive carrying and when supported properly, made good inroads. With the backs now on the front foot and they got just rewards through Jamie Evans and Rhys Evans crossing the line.

CIACs finished strongly and despite butchering a chance or two to some last ditch defence, they rounded off a strong display with the games final score.

Plenty for the Warriors to work on, but a very positive day for both clubs.

Not many days were you get thumped, Wales gets thumped and you say you enjoyed, but this was the case.
So many players that we didn't have enough kit and Nathan Phoenix had to play in his ankle socks (SEE Darren Pollitt - it can be done!!!) a packed clubhouse afterwards making for a great atmosphere, especially when Scotland held on to victory and the Calcutta Cup.
