A gutsy performance from the Warriors but another defeat

The Warriors poor results continue but the performances continue to please the coaches.

A beautiful winters day at the Villa for the visit of the Warriors, only the low sun caused any issue conditions wise. It was a tough day at the office for the Warriors with a big Loughor side giving them a physical workout. The game was fast paced and intense for the full 80 minutes and kept the crowd entertained throughout.

Loughor were soon enjoying themselves and despite a staunch effort from the Warriors, they scored at regular intervals. They scored 5 unanswered tries in the 1st half as they spread the ball with abandon. The Warriors worked hard in defence but it only took one mistake and the Blues would be heading downfield.

The Warriors did apply their own pressure but it was more laboured and they couldn't quite get over the line. The end of the half was typical, good pressure that looked certain to lead to a try, one lapse, and the home team sped away and crossed at the other end.

The 2nd half was more even, though it started with another home score. The Warriors finally registered points when winger Cain Rodwell managed to step out of a tackle and touch down. Loughor hit back but back came the Warriors. Hooker Dan Grinter and 2nd row Lloyd Crawley both put themselves about and the back row of Hall, Lawson and Pearse worked hard. In the backs, Fussell's strong running tested the defence and complimented the nippy three quarters who showed same fine touches. Their 2nd try was an innovative chip over the defence for full back Kieron Morgan but again the hard work was undone when a loose pass resulted in the 2nd interception of the game. The Warriors continued to plug away and with the last move of the game replacement prop Andrew Davies, playing the ref effectively, managed to not get penalised on the floor and somehow get over the line. It was no less than the Warriors deserved for a concerted effort.

There was no question that Loughor were the better team, so another loss for the Warriors, but their tenacity and skill not only earnt respect, but will surely result in a win soon.

Warriors XV: Kieron Morgan, Cain Rodwell (Simon Day), Mathew Hinder, Adam Fussell, James Anthony, Nathan Murphy, Gwilym Lewis, Richard Evans (Neil Price), Dan Grinter (Andrew Davies), Mark Lewis (Dai Haines, Steffan Wyn James, Stefan Marshall), Lloyd Crawley (Tony Whittaker), Matthew Miller, Chris Davies (Luke Pearse), Tomos Hall (Cpt), Nathan Lawson

Tries: Rodwell, Morgan, A Davies
Conversions: Grinter, Price
Man of the Match: Grinter

Team Manager: Rhydian Williams

A cracking performance, probably one of the best the club has put together - but another loss. The drama of getting a team together passed with only really Kieron Morgan playing massively out of position. Luckily we had so many front row with Fudge, Dainosaur and Nant all going down in a bizarre run in the 1st half.

Good effort on the Christmas jumpers (except Price and Milgi) and some good hustling on the pool (except Milgi who got beaten by Mrs Morgan)

Xmas wish list - new knees for Chris Davies, tougher props, a smile for Hapus and more of Luke's selection boxes.
