Despite being played in a deluge, 12 tries and lots of skills were served up between the two teams.

The game had a sense of occasion from the off, with the ball being delivered on field by Harvey, who is a pupil of Heol Goffa School, for which the game was a fundraiser. The match was also a Lewi Cup game, the Warriors having recaptured the trophy from Burry Port recently.

The Warriors fielded 34 players in all but still struggled to recruit a backline. Forwards Adam Fussell and Gwilym Lewis reverted to their "other" roles, debutant Oliver West was pitched in at centre and Luke Jenkins was enticed back for a run out. Wide out the proven potent runners Higgins, Rodwell, Dcruz and Day were all present and correct and with Murphy at 10 an exciting game was in prospect.

Up front the team were spoilt for choice and fresh legs meant that the momentum of the match rarely slowed and Chris Wright had an impressive debut.

A gusty wind blowing the fine (glaw man) rain about didn't help either team but both teams looked to run the ball whenever possible and with astute referee Rhys Andrews playing long advantages, the hardy spectators were well entertained.

It was a ding dong battle with neither side getting two scores before the other hit back. James Evans got his 1st Warriors try to get things going but Ethan Hilbut hit back with the first of a brace that earned him the home team's Man of the Match Award. Warriors Captain Tomos Hall also got a brace, his strong running and continual support play a feature of the Warriors play.

For the Warriors Nathan Jones continues to show his development, Gerald Thomas tried hard and look Pearse showed up well on his 50th cap. Rhys Evans scored their best try a break from Dylan Williams and 3 quick passes gave Evans another space to cross (against his 'other' club). A clever kick through got Nathan Murphy another try and Cain Rodwell was a touch unlucky to only land 2 of his 4 attempts at the posts. Warriors Man of the Match Dai Haines got just reward for his strong running to claim their 6th score.

For the home team Steffan Rees and Kez Edwards rolled back the years and Lee Bates had a fine game before swopping sides to play with work colleague Haines. Ori Phillips and Steff Roberts crossed for fine scores and Kurtis Brooks got his 1st Trim try.

With time ticking, the Warriors were two scores clear and will be disappointed to have let Trim back. In the end though, they had to be thankful that the final conversion attempt slipped wide and a draw was recorded.

A cracking game played in a good spirit throughout. With coaching head on, the Warriors looked rusty - rushing attacks and sluggish in defence.
There are more important things though - the whole team seemed to enjoy the experience and made positive contributions.
Great to see a packed clubhouse with a popular and entertaining ("On the BLUE") raffle and very (very) popular Hog roast (except for T-bone who insisted on Mam taking him to the chippie).
It was good to catch up with some people from the Warriors past: Des Williams, Colin Downey, Steff Roberts, Mathew Samuel...
Cracking set by Stuart Davies and then Simon Day ruining the karaoke again!

Best of all the funds raised for Ysgol Heol Goffa was heading past £1,200 as we headed into the night (through the never ending rain).

A great fixture that we look forward to holding again...
