The Warriors might regret agreeing to extend this fixture when in time added on for players the Signals racked up 18 of their 23 points

The Warriors had their biggest ever turnout with some 50 players initally available and 47 taking the field for the integrated side.

In hot July sunshine the pace was very quick, almost akin to 7s, but committed defense from both teams ensured that the scoring was minimal.

The Warriors started brightly with eventual Man of the Match Alex Kwan orchestrating well from 10 and leading an effective backline in Phillips, Stephens, Morgan coming in from full back with wings Ramcke and Whittaker also showing some nice touches.

The Army also had their moments and it became an intense game and not for the faint hearted. Initially split into 3 thirds to allow structured changes for both large squads.

The army made the crucial breakthrough towards the end of the 1st third, slick hands seeing them in for a try despite some desperate Warriors cover defense.

The game was closely thought throughout though. Huw Jenkins and Liam Tobias doing well in the 2nd period up front and Matthew Kirkham busy behind.

Standing out in the third period were Richard Evans and Simon Jenkins. The Warriors camped on the Signals line for periods and could easily have snatched a score although some chances were squandered through poor discipline.

With many players on both sides still eager for more game time, a 4th period was agreed. The army hit back at this point and although Lee Rowlands led some promising attacks the Warriors eventually broke under pressure. An early score was followed up by a controversial drop goal which many observers thought was a knock on and then two more late tries to seal the result.

Warriors XV(!): Jack Morgan (Jonathan Kerr, Martin Pegler), Curtis Ramcke (Wayne Evans), Ben Phillips (Lee Rowlands), Alun Stephens Matthew Kirkham, Richard Pegler), Tony Whittaker (Ryan Morgan), Alex Kwan (Stuart Taylor, Craig Rees), Chris Edmunds (James Rees), Colin Talcon (Chris Hancock, Huw Jenkins, Liam Jones, James Dew), Tom Dew (Eric Horridge, Richard Evans), Adrian Williams (Mike James, Simon Delaney, Chris Mills, Jon Rees), John Horwood (Ben Rees, Richard Davies), Rhydian Willimas (Darren Pollitt, Richard Parker, Andrew Hayans), Dai Gwyther (Liam Tobias, Andrew Pegler), Simon Jenkins (Cpt)(Michael Hogan), Gwilym Lewis (Paul Davies, James Stephens)
