A hard earned win against a resolute Aberaeron
With what could turn out to be a very important win, Llanfair continued their good league form to see off a stubborn Aberaeron side on Mount Field yesterday.
Coming into the game on the back of 7 games unbeaten, Llanfair weren't taking anything for granted against what they knew would be tough opposition.
The first half play ebbed and flowed between both sides. Both sides came close, Llanfair arguably the closest, striking the woodwork on three occasions.
Early in the second half, Llanfair took the lead when a lovely one-two move inside the left channel between Josh Astley and Karl Seliaerts led to Karl calmly slotting the ball past an advancing goalkeeper with a neat finish off the outside of the boot.
Llanfair's lead didn't last long though. On 51 minutes Aberaeron equalised with an unmarked header at the back post from a corner.
Llanfair responded well. When a ball was played up to Karl Seliaerts, he was shoved in the back and fouled inside the area. Karl stepped up and clinically scored from the spot.
The rest of the game turned into a feisty, competitive affair with both sides defending well, Llanfair holding out for what could prove to be a very important 3 points.
Bow Street away next week in the league.
