How Llan have fared on Opening day in years gone by

We welcome Ruthin Town to Towerfields for the first league fixture between the two sides since 1982-83 Season at Welsh National League Level . The last meeting at Cymru Alliance level came in 2010 when Ruthin edged home 2-1 with a hotly disputed last minute penalty converted by Kevin Garland . In 2006 the 2 sides met in a Welsh Cup opening round fixture with Andrew Roberts netting the win for the visitors .

Last season saw us edged out at Local rivals Chirk AAA in the Seasons curtain raiser . Despite goals on their debut by Tryfan Prosser and Kieron Duckett , a late free kick from James Jones gave The Colliers the victory .

We opened up 2011-12 with a home victory against Welsh Alliance outfit Llanrwst United in the Welsh Cup with a solitary 5th minute strike from Josh Langford .

2010-11 was the last time we drew our first game when a header from John Jones rescued a point away at Corwen .

2009-10 saw our only season at Cymru Alliance level launch with a resounding win over Llanfair PG . Goals from Craig Hughes , Matt Holmes , Mark Lunt and Ian Oliver Davies helped record an emphatic win all after PG had equalised through Billy Evans

Our Title winning season of 2008-09 opened wwith a draw against widely fancied Penycae fC . In an excellent game goals from Mark Lunt and Ashley Wilson ensured the points were shared

It was a Welsh Cup opener again back in 2007-08 and a miserable trip to a gloomy Nefyn were an Ian Grindley penalty was the only brightspot in a 4-1 reverse in a match played in atrocious conditions .

John Dean netted our only goal on his debut on opening day 2006-07 but was not enough to take any points as Mold Alex left Towerfields 2-1 winners .

The most resounding First day success of recent years came in 2005 when a Hat Trick from current First Team Manager Gareth Lloyd helped crush Brynteg Village 7-3 at Towerfields .
