Llanidloes returned to the form that saw them beat Bala 2 weeks ago at Cae Hafren with a hard fought victory over Abergele. A high tempo start caught the visitors cold and good offloading brought Llanidloes 2 tries within 10 minutes through young scrum half 'S Jones' and centre P Jehu. Both were converted by A Price. Abergele came in to the game as the half wore on, but stout defence of their line by the home side gave a 14-0 scoreline at half time, though flanker Dick Jones was yellow carded following a string of penalties. Abergele made the numerical advantage pay early in the second half with a well worked rolling maul leading to a converted try. More stout defence followed from the home side as the visitors continued to press but as the half progressed Llanidloes gained more territory and possession and following a turnover the scrum half darted through from short range for a further converted try. As they pressed for a bonus point try centre Jehu came close but was tackled in to touch just short of the line.
