Chairman's Message

Mel Roberts27 Dec 2025 - 14:50

A short note from Mel

Well, what a year 2025 was! One that will live long in the memory.

Unfortunately the year ended on a sour note with the passing of our vice-chairman Jimmy. Jimmy was a great addition to the club, and village. He as a true supporter and was always on hand to help with anything. He has a happy and comical individual and his passing has left a void within the club - rest in peace Jimmy!

The rest of the year though was a happy one , with the high point THAT day in the middle of May. The players managed to maintain their league position to ensure that the last game of the season was the BIGGEST day of the season. It will be an event that will stay long in the memory, not only for the result but for the number of people that came down to Tanllan to watch the game. To have in excess of 500 people at the Recreation ground shows how important local football is to communities. Thank you all who turned up and made it a wonderful occasion.

Our return to Tier three was a difficult one to start off with, but the boys have acclimatised well and have been in excellent form for a good while now. We are now looking upwards instead of downwards. The boys have been fantastic and we look forward to 2026 with optimism.

We are also proud of the re-establishment of our reserve team. They have made a good start to their campaign and we look forward to their progression and development and future players making their way into the first team.

Off the pitch, things seem to be going from strength to strength. Our committee continues to grow - Jessie Vaughan being the latest addition. Our Gentleman's Afternoon was a great success once again, and we were excellently entertained by Sammy Lee and Lennie Dee. We look forward to our 2026 edition with our guest speaker Jon 'The Beast' Parkin and the returning comedian Lennie Dee.

Our sponsors, pitch side and programme advertisers are a great support to us as well and we are extremely grateful to them for their continued support. Our supporters have also been fantastic. We are gaining numbers regularly and I know the players and the management are really appreciative of your support home and away.

I would also like to thank all the players and the management for their efforts - there is something growing once again and these are exciting times.

Finally a big thank you from me to everyone who help the club in any way, shape or form. Your help is very much appreciated. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi gyd.

We can look forward with excitement to 2026.

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i chi gyd
