Llan were back in cup action on Saturday when they hosted Tier 3 side Dolgellau AA in a FAW Dragon Signs Trophy tie.
Llan started the brighter and were ahead on 12 minutes. Dale played the ball through to Billy who calmly placed the ball past the visiting keeper. Things got even better for Llan. They won the ball back high up the pitch and the ball dropped to Billy who played Huw through. Huw, similar to Billy, calmly finished past the advancing keeper to put Llan in dreamland inside the first 15 minutes. On 22 minutes Llan were indebted to Archie for keeping the visitors scoreless with an excellent. Chances were then at a premium with the game being played out in the midfield. Inside the last 10 minutes of the half, Dolgellau got in the ascendancy and penned Llan into their own half and on the stroke of half time they hit the post, only for the ball to hit the wrong sid of the post for the visitors.
Half time score Llan 2 Dolgellau AA 0
The visitors started the second half strongly and reduced the arrears inside 3 minutes. 2 minutes they broke clear and Dale was adjudged to have fouled the attacker and a penalty was harshly awarded. Fortunately for Llan the spot kick was put wide, and Llan were still ahead. It was the visitors who were causing all the problems but the home defence stood firm. On 70 minutes the game was effectively over when Griff played Billy through to once again calmly place the ball past the keeper, 3-1. Llan managed the game from there. The visitors kept the ball for long periods but didn't really cause the home rear-guard many problems.
Full time score Llan 3 Dolgellau 1
An excellent all round performance from the whole squad. It was a good barometer of the progress we have made by pitching ourselves against a Tier 3 side. The draw will be made for the next round on Wednesday 11th. On the same night we will be playing away against Tier 2 side Caersws in the Central Wales Cup ko 7.30.
