Llan hosted Llanfair in the first local derby of the season looking to extend their winning run. It was a tight affair early with the visitors in the ascendancy. After 33 minutes they made their dominance pay when they were awarded a penalty which was duly dispatched by Selly despite the best efforts of Archie. Things got worse for Llan 2 minutes later when Selly netted his and Llanfair's second from close range. Llan were now up against it but were handed a lifeline on 40 minutes when Billy calmly placed the ball past the keeper after latching onto a through ball by Will Roberts-Morris.
Half time score Llan 1 Llanfair 2
Llan, now playing down the slope, started the second half better and soon pinned the visitors in their own half. It didn't take them long to level the scoreline. A free kick was put into the penalty box and after a scramble Evan Roberts headed the ball into an open goal to get his first goal for the club. Llan now drove forward and had the upper hand. On 67 minutes Llan made their dominance pay. After good work from Max Evans, his cross was powerfully headed in by Will Roberts-Morris at the far post. The visitors were reduced to 10 men on 74 minutes after the left midfielder got his marching orders after receiving his second yellow. The game was put to bed a minute later. A clearance from Archie was excellently controlled by Billy, who then found Will Roberts-Morris free in the box, who produced an excellent finish to make the score 4-2 (the knee slide certainly needed some practice!!). Llan calmly saw the game out to gain an excellent three points and extend their winning run to 5 games.
Full time score Llan 4 Llanfair 2
An excellent second half performance from Llan in a good game to watch. The big turning point was Llan only going in 2-1 down at the break after a disappointing first half. To be fair to the boys, they rectified this in the second half and were worthy winners in the end. Next Saturday we host Bow Street in a 2.00pm kick off.
