"Last Saturday we made the journey into Mid Wales to take on Llanidloes Town FC. who were on a decent run. Missing from our side were Barry Morris, Gary Meredith, Jack Brayne, Hamish Clifton and Chris Aitkin. From the first whistle we didn't allow the home side to settle at all and it wasn't long before Iwan Matthews played Wayne Austin in to put our noses in front. Having taken the lead we went looking for the second but with some resolute defending, particularly by their centre half, Warren Sherwood, we had to wait until just before half time for it to arrive. Centre forward, Iwan Matthews spun inside their penalty box, striking the ball into the corner of the net, to put us two up. Although our opponents did have a couple of half chances, we had an excellent chance to go three up but Wayne Austin's chip was read by the home keeper. Our first half performance was excellent however, we knew that this game was far from over. On fifty five minutes, their midfielder collected the ball and drove forward before shooting through a crowd of players, beyond our keeper to find the bottom corner. Yes, as expected this did give the home side a lift but we weren't about to surrender our lead. Iwan broke down the left beating two defenders before crossing the ball into their six yard box to find Wayne Austin who lifted the ball into the roof of the net to complete his brace, giving us a two goal cushion. Back came Llani and indeed had a half decent shout for a penalty turned away by the ref before a misplaced pass fell to their centre forward to strike home from twenty yards. The expected pressure from the Daffs didn't materialise and it was of no surprise for when our No9 collected the ball and went on a run, out pacing their defence with ease before picking his spot to grab his well deserved brace. Our lads saw the last few minutes though to the final whistle - a great three points. This was an solid team performance by all the lads - who won their individual battles all over the park, against a side who will be in contention for honours come the end of this season. We'd also like to thank Llanidloes FC for their after match hospitality.
Thanks All for your support.
