Tight game that could have gone the other way
Llan entertained Holywell last Saturday in an important game. Almost straight from the kick off Holywell went up field and put a shot wide. Llan responded almost immediately and a Marc Griffiths shot was saved. On 10 minutes an Iain Edmunds corner was put over the bar by Glenn Evans. Than on 14 minutes Llan took the lead. Another Iain Edmunds corner was cleared and Iwan Matthews crashed the ball in from 18 yards off the post. Celebrations were short lived by a raised flag from the assistant referee. After consultation the goal was awarded and Llan took the lead. Holywell were soon on level terms (21 minutes) with an excellent strike from 20 yards giving Jimmy Hayns no chance. The remainder of the first half was a tight affair with chances at a premium.
Half time score Llan 1 Holywell 1
Holywell started the second half the stronger and penned Llan into their own half. Llan weathered the storm and on 65 minutes a Dan Kelly headr was deflected onto the bar. On 70 minutes Holywell took the lead with the centre forward pouncing on a deflected cross. Things went from bad to worse with Tom Evans and Glenn Evans being sent off within 5 minutes of each other, both for 2 yellow cards. In between the two red cards Jimmy made an excellent save from close range to keep Llan in the game. Llan were now finding it hard to get out of their own half and set pieces were their only chance of scoring. With the 90 minutes up, Holywell were awarded a debatable penalty, which was duly dispatched.

A tight game which on another day could have ended up differently. Unfortunately we're not getting the rub of the green at the minute at the important moments. I'm sure that this will change. We move on to the challenge of neighbours Guilsfield.
