Another important win

Mid Wales Derby yields three important points
The first team went into Saturday's game in good spirits after the win against Denbigh the previous week. The squad was back to full strength and the boys were looking to build upon the previous week's result. Llan started the game the better and forced Penrhyn onto the back foot, but the visitors stood firm. Indeed they nearly took the lead on 10 minutes when Steff Evans got clear of the home defence and crashed his shot against the cross bar. The game was certainly end to end and soon after Sam Thomas had a shot from the edge of the box well blocked. Five minutes later Marc Griffiths had a speculative shot which sailed high and wide. However the visitors took the lead on 17 minutes. A free kick was flicked on for Steff Evans to calmly finish in the bottom corner. Penrhyn were in the ascendancy now but some stout defending from Llan kept them in the game. Good work from Iwan Matthews nearly led to an equaliser for Llan while Tom Bailey was thwarted in the air on the half hour mark.. Soon after a Khyam Wyton header was well saved by the visiting keeper. 5 minutes before half time another chance for Llan. A Sam Thomas cross finds Iwan Matthews who puts the header over the bar.
Half time score Llan 0 Penrhyncoch 1
Llan start the half the brighter and find the visiting keeper in fine form. On 51 minutes the visitors are thwarted by Jimmy Hayns. However Llan break up field and score with the next attack. A free kick by Sam is well saved by the keeper but captain Joe Vaughan is on hand to power home the headed equaliser. The game then turns in Llan's favour with a Penrhyncoch player sent off for two yellow cards. 10 minutes later the decisive goal is scored by Khyam Wyton, who is on hand to poke home from close range. Penrhyn respond well to falling behind and force Jimmy into a couple of saves. Marc Griffiths has a good header saved on 77 minutes. Llan then comfortably hold on for the three points.
Full time score Llan 2 Penrhyncoch 1
A great three points after falling behind. This keeps us in touch with the mid table pack and puts a bit more distance between us and the drop zone. Once again well done to everyone involved. Next week we travel Gresford in a 2pm kick off.
