A disciplined performance that wasn't quite good enough
Llan travelled to the Traeth to face an in form Porthadog on a glorious sunny day. Both sides tried to get the ball down and play football on a good surface. On 8 minutes Jimmy Haynes was called into action and produced a good save. Llan were well in the game though and soon Iwan Matthews made a good run down the left and cut in towards the box but dragged his shot wide. Llan were then awarded a penalty on 15 minutes when Joe Vaughan was pulled down in the box. Unfortunately the keeper guessed the right way and saved Khyam Wyton's penalty. On 23 minutes the home side saw a strike from the edge of the box fly over the bar. Porthmadog were having the lions share of the ball but were finding it hard to break down a resolute Llan defence. Jimmy was called into action again on 32 minutes and made a great save with the striker well poised. On the stroke of half time Jimmy was again on hand to keep the score goalless.

The second half followed a similar pattern. on 54 minutes Tom Bailey made a telling clearance from a good Porthmadog cross. Iwan Matthews was soon fouled on the edge of the box. From the resulting free kick Tom Bailey headed the ball back across goal and the home keeper took the ball off Marc Griffiths' head. On the hour mark a Porthmadog free kick flew over the bar and the goal soon followed. An excellent cross from the left gave the striker the easiest of finishes. Llan were now being penned into their own half but were hanging in the game. On 82 minutes Jimmy once again made an excellent save from point blank range while Kieran Evans cleared the ball off the line from the follow up. From the resulting corner Porthmadog finished the game with their second goal of the afternoon.
