A poor first half performance

Safety secured despite performance
Llan travelled to Central Park, Denbigh in search of the point that would secure their status for next season. Denbigh started the brighter and on 6 minutes Iain Edmunds was on hand to clear a header from a corner off the line. The strong wind and hard pitch made play difficult. On 13 minutes the hosts took the lead after a defensive mix up allowing the centre forward to calmly lob Jimmy. Two minutes later a good strike from Sam Thomas was palmed away by the home keeper. Llan were riding their luck and the home side hit the post on 20 minutes and Jimmy picked up the ball off the line. When Llan attacked they caused problems to the home defence. A Khyam Wyton header was collected by the home keeper, while 5 minutes later saw an Iain Edmunds corner was cleared off the line. From the resulting corner Khyam's header was again cleared off the line. An Eddy free kick was then saved by the home keeper. Denbigh then broke upfield and Jimmy Haynes made an excellent save when one on one and the follow up hit the post and went wide. The game was effectively over on 39 minutes when Denbigh scored 2 goals inside a minute.

JImmy once again called into action and he pulled off an excellent save from a close range header. Llan were awarded a penalty on 73 minutes when Kieran Evans was pulled down in the box. Khyam Wyton calmly dispatched the penalty. 3 minutes later a Sam Thomas strike sailed over the barand 4 minutes later saw a Khyam lob sail wide. Full time score Denbigh 3 Llan 1
Denbigh were the deserved winners on the day in their final league game of the season. The result ensured that Llan had to endure a tense wait for the Penrhyncoch v Holywell result to come through. A 3-3 draw ensured that Llan maintained their tier 2 status. An outstanding achievement.
