Match Report by Paul Greenwood.
The conditions were very poor leading into the match and Alton decided to move the match to a much smaller but better quality pitch. Alton capitalised on the new playing surface by pushing the Pumas into conceeding early penalties. By kicking for the line, the resulting catch and drive saw the homeside open up the scoring 5-0.
Here the score remained until the 20 minute when Alton got another penalty and this time went for the posts and converted. 8-0. The Alton pack were starting to show signs of trying to dominate the match and even in the lineout the Pumas were struggling to compete. With 25 minutes played the Pumas were camped in their half and showing no signs of getting their hands on the ball. Early changes saw Dave Price on for Lee Smith and Tom O'Grady replacing Ben Stallard. More tactical than performance related as the Pumas just needed some new energy in the pack.
They were rewarded by gaining more territory and pushed into the Alton twenty-two to win a penalty. From the resulting penalty Robert Connell opened the Pumas account for the day. 8-3.
Alton struck back very quickly by this time letting their backs run and produced some good hands in the conditions to score a try. 13-3. But Robert Connell converted a last minute penalty to bring the scoreline to 13-6 at Half Time. The homeside clearly enjoyed the half and made far better on their territorial gains.
WE NOW APOLOGIES FOR THE LOSS OF SERVICE TO THIS MATCH REPORT!!! Due to circulmstances beyond our control this was what was received by way of second half information.
"Due to management comitments I was not able to do the second half match report, but err 2 tries from Robert Connell, the first a great kick through from Nick Destefano gathered by Gus Flack who popped the ball up to Robert Connell who picked a great line. Next try from JJ (Jonathon Elsmore). Two lineouts and two catch a drives saw him go over to score. Robbie Connell gets extras for a tied game 21-21??
They come back and score a try.. is that right?... we definately score a try!!

Apologies for no detail on that but I cannot drive the f***ing bus, do the water, clean the kit, do a f***ing detailed match report and run on with the kicking tee when Robbie only has 15 seconds left to take the winning penalty. So f*** these match reports George!!"
