On a heavy pitch Longbenton controlled and dictated the pace of the match from start to finish. An early goal from David Short settled the game down.
After a second goal from David Short early in the second half the final result was never in doubt. David Kane converted a penalty in 68th minute when David Short was pulled down by the keeper in the box. The fourth and final goal was scored by Richard Charlton who came on as Sub for Shem Bayley.
