Longside had Dufftown as visitors in a McBookie.Com First Division fixture on Saturday, Longside had the 1st attempt at goal when following a long throw the ball fell to Lawrence but his effort went narrowly past the post. Jason Bain then did well to clear a dangerous ball into the box from F Stables. Longside then forced a few corners in quick succession and from one Murison had an effort blocked and from the rebound Wallace saw his shot well saved by McIntosh. It was then Dufftown’s turn to force a couple of corners but the Longside defence stood firm under the pressure. The remainder of the 1st half then seen both teams cancelling each other out.

Longside started the 2nd half with Webster replacing Mowat, Longside went in front on 49 mins when West did well on the right wing before crossing for SCOTT MURISON to score with a diving header at the back post despite a great effort from McIntosh to keep it out. Almost immediately Mitchell squandered a great chance for Dufftown to draw level when he volleyed well wide from a good position in the box. McIntosh kept his side in the game with a good double save firstly from Batty’s fiercely struck free kick and from the follow up saving well from Jason Bain’s header. Dufftown equalised just after when they won a corner and from the resulting kick SCOTT THOMSON scored from close range. Wallace was close to giving the home side the lead again when he saw his header strike the bar and go out for a goal kick with the keeper beaten. On 65 mins James Bain replaced Batty. JAKE WEST then put Longside 2-1 up when he got on the end of a great through ball from Wallace before shooting right footed beyond McIntosh. West then had hard luck when he seen his shot hit the post and go out for a goal kick. Longside increased there lead when JAMES BAIN ran onto a through ball before coolly slotting it past the advancing McIntosh. On 81 mins Taylor replace Murison. Dufftown got a second goal on 88 mins when Barbour spilled a high ball and JAMES GRANT scored from close range.

Summing up : Another great win for Longside who were made to fight all the way by Dufftown who themselves will think on another day they might have taken something from this game. Next Saturday Longside travel to play Fraserburgh United in the Dominos Pizza Regional cup.
