Longside had near neighbours Buchanhaven Hearts as visitors on Saturday in the McBookie.com First Division. The home side took the lead in the 9th minute when Lawrence did well to get to the byeline before firing across goal and OWEN TOCHER was on hand to fire home.

A dangerous cross from Mitchell was taken well by Campbell under pressure. Longside doubled their lead when a free kick was cleared as far as ADAM TAYLOR on the edge of the box and he chipped the ball into the net. With 22 minutes gone JAMES BAIN scored number three after good work from Stuart.

McDougall tried a shot from distance for the visitors but his effort was well wide of the target. A free kick from West was saved by Pirie.

Hearts were awarded a penalty in 49 minutes and SCOTT MCLEOD made no mistake from the spot. A minute later Longside restored their three goal advantage when a Taylor corner was cleared as far as Mowat and from his cross JACK DANIEL headed past a helpless Pirie.

With 55 minutes gone the home side scored a fifth when NICOL DAVIDSON guided the ball past Pirie from the edge of the box. Minutes later fine interplay from Taylor and JAMES BAIN split the Hearts defence before the striker slipped it under the advancing Pirie.

Longside replaced Wallace with Webster. The visitors pulled a goal back in 66 minutes when slackness in the home defence allowed CAMERON BROWN to slip the ball past Campbell. A fine shot from Murray was well saved by Campbell before the ball was cleared upfield.

The home side made a second change when Taylor was replaced by Murison. Hearts scored a third when a dangerous cross from Murray found CAMERON BROWN at the far post and he scored from close range. Buchan went clear on the right and his cross was well blocked by Daniel. Longside were awarded a penalty when Lawrence was fouled in the box, JAMES BAIN made no mistake to complete his hat-trick.

Summing up : A fine win for Longside who got the early breakthrough and never looked back.
