Longside travelled to play Dufftown on Saturday in the McBookie.com First Division. The visitors had the first chance when a West free kick broke for Gardiner but he hooked his shot wide. West did well again minutes later when he drove into the box before finding Tocher in the middle, he managed to beat the keeper but his shot hit the post and went out for a goalkick.
Tocher turned provider in the 16th minute when he played the ball back to Gardiner but he blasted the ball over from outside the box. Grant tried a shot from distance but Batty made a good save. Davidson did well to find Wallace and his 25 yard shot was brilliantly saved by McIntosh at the expense of a corner which came to nothing.
West found Lawrence with a fine pass but his goalbound effort produced a stunning save from McIntosh. The home side took the lead in 32 minutes when a Thompson pass from the right was missed by everyone and JAMES GRANT was on hand to score from close range. Lawrence found himself clear straight from the restart but again McIntosh blocked his shot.
A Gardiner corner was met by Tocher but his header produced another wonder save from McIntosh. Dufftown doubled their lead with a carbon copy of the first goal when a ball in from the right was finished off this time by MARK THOMPSON.
(Half time : 2-0)
Longside made a change with James Bain replacing Taylor, and he was soon in action when he slipped the ball through to NICOL DAVIDSON and he slid the ball past the advancing keeper. The visitors forced four corners in as many minutes but they couldn’t find an equaliser.
James Bain saw his shot produce another superb save by McIntosh. Wallace had a shot which beat the keeper but was headed off the line. Longside made a second change with Marshall replacing Gardiner.
The visitors got a deserved equaliser in the 89th minute when LEE LAWRENCE drilled a low 20 yard shot into the neat. In injury time James Bain had a great opportunity to bag all three points for his side when he went clear by Wallace but his shot slipped narrowly wide.
Summing up : A good point in the end for Longside who battered Dufftown especially in the second half but found home keeper McIntosh on top form making some astonishing saves.
