Boro U15 back to winning ways

With our Captain injured and watching from the touch line, Boro came out with aggression and determination following last week's defeat. Strong straight running with good support from the pack forced Bosworth into their 22 with some powerful leg drives from Ellis setting the standard for the morning. George Martin decided to make his appearance at Boro felt and seized on an opportunity to cross the line for our first try with barely 3 minutes gone. Conversion was missed left. At the restart the ball quickly arrived from a good counter-ruck and was passed down the line for Fast George to turn on the gas and run in a try out wide left field at just 5 minutes played. Converted by Henry (12- 0). Bosworth looked dazed. Again at the restart the forwards powered forward with good strong running and support and the ball soon found the hands of George Martin who ran through to score under the posts at 10 minutes played. Converted. 19-0.

At this point in the game the referee, aware of Boro's dominance, began penalising Boro players for many offences and poor discipline started to creep into the the game leading to several penalties and allowing Bosworth to get into our 22. Strong deference was soon turned into attack and the ball passed out to Henry Wells and a strong run was held just short of the line but great support play by Sam Barrett saw him the recipient of a pop-pass and he crossed the line to score at 17 minutes played. Conversion out wide missed. 24-0.

Poor discipline, mainly hands in the wrong places in the ruck, saw a series of penalties and slowed the play down but soon the ball passed quickly down the back line to reach Jack Evans who scored out wide on the right wing at 24 minutes played. Conversion fell just short of the cross bar. 29-0. Dominant play continued in all areas only giving way to poor discipline at times but the inevitable happened and the ball once again fell into the hands of George Martin who ran over his third try (on his debut!) at 28 mins. Converted Half time 36-0.

At the restart, Bosworth knocked on and a dominant scrum set the ball up for the backs who shipped it out wide for Fast George who duly scored out on the left corner after just 3 minutes leaving a tough kick which fell just short of the bar. 41-0.

Solid forward work and total dominance at the scrums saw the ball passed to Dan who kicked over the line into space for Henry W who ran through to score under the posts. Converted. 48-0. Numerous substitutions were then made and Bosworth quickly found some cracks in the defence and ran in a try on the left wing. Conversion missed. 48-5.

Yet again simple mistakes saw the ref repeatedly penalise Boro for poor discipline despite his numerous warnings and with some missed tackles, the game moved up and down the field but it was not until Boro were in Bosworth's 22 that George Baum saw a gap and powered for the line only to be stopped just short but soon recovered his feet and crossed the line for a well earned try. Converted. 55-5.

A good performance and much better than last week in all areas but the discipline at the breakdown saw far too many penalties and is an area we must work on. Everyone put in a solid performance today and it was a great team win with a good spirits between the boys.
