Boro U15 travelled to neighbours Ashby last Sunday. Not only had winter temperatures arrived for the first time this season but the pitch was holding much of the recent rain and as they say, the going was soft.
None of that seemed to effect Boro who started strongly with George M touching down from a 5 metre scrum after 3 minutes and then the backs sent George S down the left wing several times, who soon mastered the right-to-left slope of the pitch, touching down twice after 14 and 16 minutes. Boro didn't let up, scoring twice more before the break and with Henry W kicking faultlessly the halftime score was 35-0. After the break Boro continued to control the game scoring twice more. To their credit, the hosts never gave up and following some weak Boro defending Ashby earned a deserved consolation try.
The coaches were pleased with squad's performance however some areas to work on in training were identified and the lads are reminded that there are some big challenges ahead before Xmas, not least next week's visit from Syston.
