The gaffer shared his thoughts on a well-earned success over the Fenmen

Loughborough Dynamo manager Lee Attenborough praised his side for another professional performance as they cemented their place at the top of the table with a 3-0 victory against ten man Wisbech Town on Saturday.

Goals from Josh Riley, Curtis Burrows and a first in Dynamo colours for Daniel Collins ensured they stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches and Attenborough was happy with his team’s game management to keep control of the contest, especially during the second half.

The 30-year-old said: “Yeah, it’s a game where you are playing an opposition that are going to rat about, going to hunt you down, going to work hard off the ball. Obviously, you’re playing into the conditions, torrential rain, strong wind first half especially. So, you have to overcome a few obstacles but we’ve done it really well. Like you say, it was a professional performance; we managed the game really well in the second half. In the end, it felt comfortable and I never thought we’d let it slip.”

Riley opened the scoring with a deflected strike, before the visitors were given a red card as Dean Grogan was dismissed for a late challenge on Tristan Matthews. Dynamo dominated from that moment, with Burrows and Collins adding the other goals but the boss highlighted the amount of missed chances as his only concern from the game.

“I think the first goal is always important at this level,” he said. “Especially against a team with all due respect that are down there, scrapping for points. It knocked the confidence out of them if you get the first one and from there we went from strength to strength. On another day, I think second half really put the knife in and score a few more.

“So, that’s probably my only concern and disappointing thing is that we didn’t get more in the end because we had a lot of the ball, especially down the right-hand side. Lots of balls across the box and if we had a little bit more quality in the last third, we would have got a hatful!”

Next up for The Moes is a Buildbase FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round match-up with Southern Premier League Division One Central side Bedford Town and Attenborough believes that this competition is a good distraction given the amount of league games are coming thick and fast.

“It is nice [the FA Trophy]. It is a bit of a distraction, gives you a week to sort of play in a different competition and maybe give a few lads games as well. Obviously, it is important for the Club financially and we want to go as far as we can.”
