The striker hopes to continue his recent good form heading into the new season

Loughborough Dynamo forward Dan Collins wants to cement a place in the starting line-up ahead of the 2021-22 season after netting six goals in his last eight appearances.

The striker scored a consolation in Dynamo’s 3-1 defeat at the University of Nottingham last weekend but showed further glimpses of quality throughout the contest.

Despite the result, Collins admitted that he wasn’t up to his usual self during the first period but was pleased to get onto the scoresheet and add to his recent tally.

He said: “I gambled on Dean’s [Freeman] ball through and I got there before the goalkeeper, dinked it over him and a little finish into the back of the net.

“I’ve just been giving them my all to be honest! I didn’t have a great first-half against University of Nottingham but I think I showed in the second-half that I wanted it more.

“In the other games, it has been good to get out and have a couple of games after the restart. It has been good to get a couple of goals too.”

The Moes’ next challenge is in the form of Collins’ former side Loughborough University at Nanpantan Sports Ground next Saturday and the 21-year-old wants to continue that level of performance heading into the competitive season.

“I want to maintain my fitness before pre-season so I’m going into that period strong,” he continued.

“I want to then have a good start to the season and I want to try and cement a place in the starting line-up.”
