After six straight league outings to open the new season, Dynamo started their FA Cup campaign on the first Saturday in September, and they made it through to the next round with a victory over Cogenhoe United. Jake Betts and Langham were on the scoresheet in a 2-1 success in Cambridgeshire.
They backed up with another narrow win, this time at home to Goole AFC, as Langham scored another two goals to continue his fine start. But The Moes failed to make it three on the bounce when they lost against Stamford. Dynamo bounced back by dispatching Daventry Town 3-1 in the Cup to book a place in the Second Qualifying Round for the first time in their history.
Another Cup win was on the horizon – a 1-0 success versus Sileby Town in mid-week. Langham bagged an equaliser in a 1-1 draw with New Mills, before Dynamo finished an action-packed month with a victory. Back-to-back league defeats followed after falling 2-1 and 3-1 against Kidsgrove Athletic and Goole AFC respectively, before beating Quorn in the Leicestershire Challenge Cup. Jamie Clarke and Mooney scored in a local derby win at Farley Way. Clarke got on the scoresheet again versus Carlton at the weekend, but Dynamo lost 4-2.

November
Making the trip to Nottinghamshire to face Rainworth Miners Welfare, The Moes knew they needed to record victory to keep the pace on the chasing pack at the top of the division, and they did just that thanks to an early Karl Noble strike.
Derby day beckoned against old rivals Shepshed Dynamo for the sides’ first meeting of the campaign, and Loughborough got on top versus their neigh-boughs. Goals from Clarke, Henton, Sam MacVicar, Jacob Blackwell, Mooney and an own-goal sealed a memorable 6-2 victory for The Moes on home soil. Another high-scoring contest followed, however, Dynamo were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller against Sheffield FC, despite Clarke, MacVicar and Dale-Brown’s strikes.
In the Cup, The Moes overcame Stamford 3-1, before drawing with Sutton Coldfield Town. This topsy-turvy month continued with defeat at Kidsgrove, before a 3-3 draw against New Mills. After already beating Stamford in November, Dynamo repeated a similar feat at the end of the month – winning 2-0 thanks to Henton and MacVicar, who continued his scoring streak.

December
After a good way to end the previous month, Dynamo began December with defeat as despite taking the lead through MacVicar away at Carlton, they fell to a 2-1 loss. However, The Moes bounced back by beating Loughborough University in mid-week, before securing another duo of league wins within three days.
A 3-0 victory against Hucknall and a 2-1 success over Kidsgrove were pivotal after Clarke bagged three in those two matches. Grantham condemned Dynamo to defeat in their final outing before Christmas.
Following that loss, The Moes secured a Boxing Day win against Quorn, but this day was momentous as Jake Betts made his 200th appearance for the club. After making his debut in the 2006/07 season, the defender went onto play many more matches, and was key during this historic season in particular where The Moes saw success in the league and cup competitions. This was a fitting way for Dynamo to end 2011, and with a victory over their local rivals.

Dynamo 2-1 Loughborough University
Dynamo 3-0 Hucknall Town
Dynamo 2-1 Kidsgrove Athletic

January
Moving into 2012 and a new year, Dynamo began it in the best possible way by sealing a 2-0 away win at high flying Coalville thanks to Luke Edwards’ and Clarke’s strikes at Owen Street.
Five days later, Clarke saved The Moes from defeat against Leek with a 90th-minute equaliser, but they succumbed to a 4-0 loss in mid-week as they fell to a defeat in the League Cup Fourth Round at Bradford Park Avenue. Their first league defeat of the year came against Romulus, before putting that right in a 2-1 win against Brigg where Clarke and Shawn Richards got on the scoresheet.
An entertaining 2-2 draw versus Ilkeston followed, as Henton netted a late leveller to spark wild scenes among the travelling faithful. Then having already beaten Coalville to start the month, they ended the month in similar feat by ensuring a 2-0 win in the Westerby Cup quarter-finals.

February
While each month in Dynamo’s season had provided at least six fixtures to date and some action-packed schedules – February was rather quieter as after postponements – they had to wait until February 18 until their first taste of football during this month. This was a sweeter feeling however, as it came at the Dovecote and a 1-0 victory over rivals Shepshed when Sibson grabbed the crucial goal on derby day.
Another crucial clash beckoned in mid-week – a semi-final against Heather St Johns where Dynamo squeezed past their county counterparts 3-2 thanks to Noble, Clarke and Richards’ strikes. They returned to league action by cranking up the pressure on the play-off positions by beating relegation-threatened Rainworth Miners Welfare 1-0, before slumping to defeat at Belper in their final outing of an exciting, but short month.

March
Moving into the latter stages of an exciting campaign, Dynamo knew they needed to get off to a good start in March to keep the pressure on those teams at the top – and they did so as a late Reece Lester brace overcame Sutton Coldfield on Watermead Lane. But they couldn’t back it up when drawing back-to-back matches – 0-0 and 1-1 against Sheffield and Market Drayton respectively.
A disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle followed which put a dent in their play-off ambitions, but a 4-1 win over Barrow Town to ensure Dynamo reached another final in a regional competition put some light after that loss. Langham ended his six-month goal drought with a brace in that victory. However, The Moes fell to defeat in their last match on the match, losing to Leek, who were chasing promotion.

April
Coming into a crucial month, where The Moes had the first of two finals and an important final four league fixtures, they started it with an entertaining 3-3 draw at home to Lincoln. Clarke, Edwards and Richards all got on the scoresheet for Dynamo in that one.
They ended the season by putting on a late flourish in the league, securing all three points in each of their final three games. That run began after beating relegated Quorn 3-1, before repeating the same score-line to seal a win over promotion-chasing Grantham. Clarke continued his rich vein of form by bagging in each of those victories, while Edwards also completed the same feat and Richards got his name on the scoresheet versus the Gingerbreads.
Ahead of their last league match of the campaign, Dynamo knew that a win would all but seal the Club’s highest-ever finish in their 57-year history and they delivered just that to beat Hucknall 3-0 away from home. Goals from Dom Brennan, Daniel Gibbons and Henton meant that they’d finish the league season on a high going into two important cup finals. The Moes finished the Northern Premier League South division campaign in eighth position with 65 points, finishing just nine away from the play-off spots.
With just the cups to focus on, the opening one came against Shepshed, who Dynamo had already beaten twice this season and they ensured they’d repeat a similar feat this time around. Richards and Langham scored to secure a 2-0 success and lift the Loughborough Charity Cup on home soil.

Quorn 1-3 Dynamo
Dynamo 3-1 Grantham Town
Hucknall Town 0-3 Dynamo
Dynamo 2-0 Shepshed Dynamo
May
After already sealing their first trophy of the season, Dynamo were in for a much sterner test on paper, as they faced Conference side Hinckley United in the Leicestershire Challenge Cup final at King Power Stadium on Tuesday, May 8. Following success in this competition two years prior, The Moes wanted to make sure their name was on the cup this time around. In a tight affair between two high-quality teams, Loughborough edged their county rivals thanks to 19-year-old Brennan’s extra-time strike. Dynamo won the game 2-1 and brought home their second trophy of the campaign, putting gloss on what was an incredibly successful campaign for the club.
