Loughborough Dynamo boss Lee Attenborough says that he has struggled to stay completely focused on management with the absence of non-league football.

The Moes were last in competitive action on October 31 when they bowed out of the FA Trophy, which brought an end to their eight-game unbeaten run in the meantime.

After starting 2020-21 so well, sitting in second in the league, Attenborough admitted it was a kick in the teeth to hear that the season was temporarily suspended but is staying as positive as he can.

The 30-year-old said: “I think it’s difficult to stay motivated completely because you’ve not got a timescale of when you’re going to be coming back. When you finish one season, you know what the start date is going to be so you can have a bit of down time and relax.

“Then you can start of ramp yourself back up at the right time to make sure you’re at the peak come the start of the season. At the moment because you don’t know when the start is going to be whether it’s March, April, May, or August, it’s difficult to know how to approach it.

“At the minute, it’s just a case of having a bit of time off really and once we know something more, we will get the ball rolling with our preparations.”

Dynamo have won eight of their 12 matches so far this season and were scheduled to face Carlton in mid-December before the game was called off on the day due to a waterlogged pitch.

The gaffer says that he found it initially more difficult when games were being postponed but is hoping to keep as prepared as possible to when they get the green light to re-start football.

“I felt like it was more frustrating initially when we went into the second lockdown in November,” the gaffer added.

“When we were in and out of different tiers. Playing some games and then we were off again. That was difficult and it was hard but the more the time has passed it has been easier, though.

“Like with anything, I think time is a bit of a healer and the more time has gone on the more you think we can get started again.

“It would be great and if we don’t, then we just have to prepare to be ready to go again next season. It has been a little bit frustrating considering our start to the campaign but I think that has eased as time has gone on.”
