Both players were key members of last season’s squad

The Club are pleased to announce that midfielders Charlie Young and Rob Norris have committed for their futures to Dynamo for the 2019/20 season.

Firstly, Young, who joined The Moes from Birstall United two years ago has been a vital asset in the Dynamo team for the past couple of seasons. With a desire to work hard and win possession back for his team, the 22-year-old put in some Man of the Match performances last season, including a terrific display in the 3-1 success over Chasetown on Bank Holiday Monday.

An experienced head in the middle of the park, Norris, 32, enjoyed a successful 2019/20 season as he played in all but one of Dynamo’s matches during the campaign. He managed to chip in with three goals, including the opener in a tense draw with Stamford just before the New Year.

Manager Lee Attenborough believes that these two players are an important part of his plans moving ahead and is looking forward to working with the pair again next term.

He said: “I am pleased to be able to announce that Rob [Norris] and Charlie [Young] have again signed for the club for the forthcoming season. These two are excellent players but unbelievable lads with fantastic attitudes to go with it, which made it very important that we kept hold of them.

“Rob is a quality footballer, very technical with a lovely first touch. He is calm on the ball and will have it off you anywhere on the pitch. His experience has meant that we've played him in numerous positions throughout the season and regardless of where he lines up, you know you're getting consistently good performances from Noz. He started off playing as a no.4, coming deep to get the ball and dictate play, he's then had spells as an 8 and a 10 and then towards the end of the season was tucked in off the right and he's played all of those positions well for us.

“I think he played 35 games last season even though it was cut short, which was practically every game. Maybe moving forward we'll need to look after his legs a bit more, similarly to Steady in that sense, but he keeps himself fit and he always wants to be playing every game- he's not changed from when we were teammates a good five/six years ago!

“Making Noz the skipper last season was a good decision. He is well respected, not only by the players and staff at the club, but also across non league. I've never heard a bad word said about him from other players or managers which tells you all you need to know about his character. I speak to him practically every day and we both share a vision for the club and want to move it in the right direction, so it is great he'll be here next season.

“Charlie Young has come on leaps and bounds over the last 2 seasons and gone from being a player who I 'took a risk' on to being a very reliable player who performs consistently well.

“Charlie covers every blade of grass and even when he plays in a midfield 2, you feel like you've got an extra body in there because of his energy and aggression. He works hard, trains hard and always gives 100% to the cause. It's difficult to find young players who are completely selfless- the old school attitude seems to have died out of the game a little bit, but Charlie is definitely a throwback. I always joke that he'd tackle his Grandma if she took a heavy touch.

“He'd rather throw his body on the line to block a ball than get an assist and that compliments our more forward thinking central midfielders in Rob Norris and Curt Burrows. I feel like I say this all the time about our current squad, but Charlie is another great lad and a massive asset to the club who is getting better and better all the time, so we are delighted to have him again next season.”
