We caught up with the boss to discuss preparations over lockdown...

Loughborough Dynamo manager Lee Attenborough is hoping his side can come back as ready as ever when they get the green light to re-start the season after lockdown.

The Moes have begun the season in excellent form, winning eight of their 12 competitive matches to date and the gaffer says his players have been meeting for fitness sessions to maintain sharpness ahead of their return to action.

“We had one training session before we knew the lockdown was going to come in,” the 30-year-old said. “We had one on that Tuesday [November 3] night and I just said to the lads, they’ve got something to keep fit for.

“We’re at the top end of the league, we want to come back sharp, every game is like a cup final when they come back. So, motivation should be there. Yes, it is my job to motivate the lads, but I’d say it’s more their job to motivate themselves. They want to be as good as they can be, and they want to try and achieve things from a team’s perspective but a personal point of view.

“So, we’re doing fitness on zoom once a week, but they also need to be doing their own bits in their own time. Again, every manager will tell you, you’ll get the highfliers which will train four times a week. They’ll put the hard yards in then you’ll get others which will slack off a little bit.

“So, when we come back, it’s about me picking the right lads and if players aren’t looking like the levels they were before lockdown then others will take their place.”
