Unluck 16's

The pinks visited Shelley today and started the game slow.

Shelley seemed to be first to every ball and 10 minutes in they scored the opening goal. Then 5 minutes later they got another to make it 2-0.

This finally kicked the pinks into life and we started to play our passing game along with starting to challenge for every ball. Ollie pulled off 2 great saves to keep us in the game and then We were awarded a penalty after 20 mins when Lucas Hairyes was pushed in the back. unfortunately the keeper pulled off a great save against josh but josh didn’t let his head go down and within a minute he was holding 3 players off and putting a through ball to Lucas hairyes who ran on and hit the ball in off the post from just inside the box. We continued playing well and on 30 minutes pulled it back to 2-2 when josh again held off his defender on the edge of the box and as the ball bounced he hit a great shot on the turn into the top corner. It was the pinks now pushing but just on half time they made it 3-2 when their winger got in behind our defence again to Finish well.
Half time 3-2 and we started the half the better team, it was becoming a battle and bit of a fiery encounter at times with some dubious refereeing too. None more dubious than when Riley made a great tackle on their big striker in the box clearly winning the ball but somehow the ref pointed to the spot and their striker netted. These lads never stop though and kept looking for goals to get back into the contest. Then In a counter attack on us a Shelley player curled a great long range shot into the top corner. A few more farcical decisions from the ref and the game turned into a very stop start afford till the end!!
Final score was 5-2 but the lads can be proud of their performance and the spirit they showed.
Ash’s Captains motm went to Taylor who played a couple of roles today and played them both faultlessly.
Coaches motm went to Ash who was solid in the centre of the back 3 all day and nothing got past him along with him putting some great tackles in throughout the match.
