Great performance from the 16's

The pinks started the game the brighter and had honley on the back foot from the off. We had already created some good chances before we went 1-0 up. A ball into the box was headed straight up in the air from their defence , as it dropped down their keeper was just off his line and Kev superbly looped a header over him into the net.
5 minutes later it was 2-0 as a corner caused panic in the defence it fell to Lucas Dawson who dummied a couple of defenders in the area to open up some space and smash the ball home from 10 yards. Honley have one of the leagues best strikers and our back 3 worked great as a unit and kept him very quiet all half.
2-0 at half time and the pinks started the second half as they’d ended the first but a ball over the top again punished us as our defence got caught out and their dangerous striker scored past Ollie. Although we continued to play good football we couldn’t find the net and 5 minutes later they were awarded a penalty which their striker put away.
Then with 15 minutes to go they got a 3rd when their striker got in behind goal and put a ball across the box Ollie pulled off a brilliant one on one save by throwing himself at their giant midfielder but somehow the ball broke loose and as we cleared it off the line it hit their lad and went into the empty net. This team however never stop trying and they kept going. We created chance after chance but couldn’t force one home. Then with 4 minutes to go Kev took their full back on and whipped a cross into the box that their defender could only deflect into the goal to make it 3-3. The ball was grabbed from their net and the lads went straight in again still trying to get the win. Then when a corner in the last minute was met at the back post by joe He headed it back across the goal and squeezed it over the line and cue the mad celebrations. The game ended 4-3 to the pinks.
Ash’s captains motm went to joe who played really well as an out and out attacker today and scored that crucial goal at the end.
Coaches motm as shared between the midfield pairing of Charlie and Lucas Dawson. They dominated from start to finish and the oppositions midfield hardly had a touch.
