We knew we were in for a tough game, playing with only 14 players against the home team’s 15 who had a strong forward pack — a side that has clearly powered through many opponents this season — but our girls rose to the challenge brilliantly. The opposition coach even praised our tackling, and rightly so; we stopped them in their tracks time and time again.
What really stood out was how we adapted and found space, playing some excellent rugby with great interplay that led to some brilliant tries.
The game itself was a real battle throughout. Peterborough struck early, but we responded well with a try from Ashleigh, converted by Molly to level things up. Connie crossed multiple times in the first half to keep us right in the contest, with Molly adding an important conversion to see the teams tied at 19–19 at half time.
The second half was just as intense, with the lead changing hands several times. Connie completed a hat-trick, and Amelia added another well-worked try, again converted by Molly. Peterborough continued to apply pressure, but the team showed great resilience to stay in the fight.
A strong finish saw Ashleigh and Charlotte both cross the line late on, with Molly adding the final conversion to secure a well-earned 48–38 win.
Special mentions:
Molly Baker for stepping up confidently with the conversions
Ava for her kick-offs, setting us up strong every time
A real team performance full of determination, adaptability, and effort across the board. So proud of these girls.
