Following their fantastic performance away to Lichfield, the Lutterworth girls entered their first-round County Cup fixture against Melksham full of confidence — and it showed from the very first whistle.
Lutterworth surged into a commanding 32–0 lead by half-time, with every player performing at an exceptionally high level. The extra work the girls have been putting in at both club and county training is clearly paying off on the pitch. Their communication, powerful running, improved handling, and trademark tough tackling were all on display throughout the match.
Despite Lutterworths dominance, Melksham never dropped their heads. They battled bravely against wave upon wave of pressure, showing great resilience and spirit in defense. The match concluded 50–0, but the scoreline only tells part of the story. Special credit must go not only to Lutterworth’s excellent teamwork, but also to the respect, sportsmanship and humility they showed towards their opponents from start to finish.
A superb all-round team performance and a strong statement to open their County Cup campaign.
