Lutterworth RFC under 15’s decided to hold their own rugby tournament at the weekend to coincide with the visit of their touring friends from Skipton RFC.
There were 5 teams involved in the tournament, which was based on a round robin league competition.
The teams were;
Skipton
Ashby
Daventry
Loughborough
Lutterworth.
Each team played the other 4 using both the 1st and 2nd team pitches.
The games were refereed by Nigel Smith and Henry Scutt.
Lutterworths campaign started against Loughborough. The lads made a terrific start scoring several fantastic tries. Some of the threequarter play was top draw and the lads were worthy winners 25-0.
Next to play Lutterworth were the lads from Skipton. A great game of rugby with the lads in red, white and green winning 15-0.
Following a break for lunch Lutterworth continued with a match against Daventry. To my reckoning this was the first time the two teams had meet at this age group. A really hard fought affair with Lutterworth eventually wining 20-5.
The final game was against Lutterworths old rivals Ashby. There have been many close encounters between these two sides. The winner of this fixture would win the tournament. In a very physical contest the Lutterworth lads were victorious, 13-0.
Another great day for the Lutterworth boy’s and a fitting end to another successful season.
See you at the presentation evening.
