Lee and Lardy –
LF - “Delighted with the performance, very pleased with the discipline we showed, they came to break up the game, run everything with their speedy backs. We kept to our plan of high intensity play, but importantly adopted our style to control the game once our pack was in the ascendency and ran out deserved winners with a very solid performance from all 18 players. The forwards put a real shift in today, our defence was excellent but it was our patience that was most pleasing, as we got points virtually every time we were in the scoring zone. Today we were playing more as a unit, supporting each other and totally dominated the line out and set pieces. Overall considering all the injurers a very solid performance, some good performances in the backs and players gaining in confidence to offload in the tackle. I will be challenging the players for more next week as we have a very winnable game away at Cullompton to put us back in the top half of the table”
DE – “A great result and a well-deserved win, it’s a constant battle at present to get 18 fit players with all the injuries we have and its huge credit to Lee who stepped in and helped cover our front row crisis with Brian breaking his hand mid-week and Cos away. However, it was Foro’s vast experience when on the field to manage the game in the first 20 minutes that was to prove decisive in the final result as we were virtually out of sight by halftime.
We defended well in the first half and only conceding three points which was a real positive. Our pack played some of our best rugby of the season we created loads of chances and got crucial scores to always keep the scoreboard moving. I felt all 18 played well today and we were in the ascendance for most of the game. We played some good controlled rugby using our strong forwards, spinning the ball on the right occasions creating loads of opportunities. The game management was good today and we were unlucky not to get further scores anyway we had our bonus point. To win with so many injured players shows we have a strong squad in depth now which will only continue to improve as they return”
