Town face Royal Wootton Bassett at home on Saturday, in the ex prelim round of the FA Cup. The last time the two side met in the cup was back in season 2018/19 when the teams played out a boring 0-0 draw at Bassett.

The midweek replay in Lydney saw us run out 5-3 winners. We went 2-0 up only for Bassett to hit back for 2-2. They had a man sent off and Lydney eventually won the game 5-3.

Anything remotely like that one this weekend would suit us fine. Both sides lost their opening league fixture when Bassett went down 2-0 at Thornbury Town on Tuesday night and we lost 5-1 at Longlevens on Wednesday night.

Manager Lee Smith will be looking for a reaction to that defeat and he begins to find his management feet.
