It's Anti-bullying week and we know we can all help to understand and reduce it

At MHC we are proud to support Anti-bullying week and the Change Starts With Us campaign.

A recent Study by the University of Gothenberg found that team sports can have a big impact. The study found that ā€œIt is primarily sports and good friends that turn out to minimize the health risk.ā€. And we know that hockey can help form strong friendships and give people an extra support network. [Click here to read the article]

One of our Ladies' players recently experienced bullying in the workplace and has very kindly shared how her team helped her through it.
"I was bullied by my boss at work for 6 months. This affected by confidence, my sense of self-worth and my belief in what I was able to achieve. Hitting a ball around on a pitch and focusing on something entirely separate to work offered me a healthy escapism during this difficult period. More importantly, the support, laughter and smiling faces of my fellow hockey players was instrumental in ensuring that I was able to face work with a sense of perspective and reality. Thank you Maidenhead Hockey Club."

Lets get together and show our support for this great cause by wearing Odd Socks at your games and training this week!

We are proud of our Hockey Family at MHC and hope we can help others feel part of our club.
