Finally... our first home game of the season!

After three consecutive away fixtures to commence the 2020-21 season, Wayne Brown will host their first home game of the season tomorrow, when Brentwood Town are the visitors to Park Drive.

Managed again, by ex Maldon defender, Adam Flanagan, Brentwood arrive at Park Drive after a mixed start to the season. So far this season, Brentwood have played three times, winning two and losing one. Their two victories have both been away from home in the FA Cup, progressing to the Second Qualifying Round in the process. Last time out, they overcame New Salamis by two goals to one.

Flanagan, is now in his second spell as Brentwood boss, having previously achieved promotion with the Blues, via the Isthmian Division One North play-off final in the 2014-15 season, with a side that included now Maldon captain, Martyn Stokes in the heart of the defence. As mentioned, Flanagan was previously a player for Maldon & Tiptree and appeared 43 times for the Jammers, whilst his Father, Mike previously managed the Jammers during the 2011-12 season, taking charge of 33 games.

Having re-taken charge of the "Blues" this summer, Flanagan as assembled an impressive side, which includes a number of faces, that were part of his previous promotion winning side, including Sam Bantick, Andrew Freeman, James Love and Robbie Rees.

Man to watch?
Sam Bantick - the much travelled striker will be a familiar face to Maldon supporters, having previously played for the likes of Heybridge Swifts, AFC Sudbury, Coggeshall Town & Canvey Island, scoring plenty of goals in the process. Bantick has started the season in fine form, with two goals in three games, however did receive a red card in the 90th minute on Monday night, in Brentwood's FA Cup 1st Round Qualifying tie.

Wayne's men have had a positive and unbeaten start to the season, having won their two FA cup ties and drew with Soham Town Rangers last week, recording two clean sheets in the process. The draw for the next round of the competition is expected to be announced by the FA at 13:00 on Friday 25 September 2020.
