Maldon & Tiptree made it back-to-back wins with an explosive victory over Witham Town, on Guy Fawkes night.

Wayne Brown was able to reintroduce Al-Amin Kazeem to the starting line-up following his return on loan, whilst Brian Moses and Emmanuel Martins both remained absent.

On a unique playing surface, the Jammers started on the front foot, looking to take the ascendancy from early on, eventually creating the first chance. As striker, Charlee Hughes break free from his defenders, he cut the ball back to the edge of the box, however his attempted pass just evaded Scott Kemp, allowing the home defence to clear. At the other end, and so it has been in recent weeks, the Jammers missed at one end and gifted an opportunity at the other, but to delight of the Maldon supporters, Ikpemwinoghena Yakubu sent his effort wide.

The Jammers continued to create chances as Malachi Napa had an effort cleared off the line, Hughes watched on as his lobbed effort sailed over the cross bar, whilst Brian Ifeanyi had a fierce effort saved by Madden in the home goal. In the eighteenth minute, Maldon were rewarded for their positive start. A corner from the right, was recycled well by the Jammers, found its way back to Sam Cornish on the right hand side, his inviting cross bounced across the box, to Hughes at the back post who toe-poked the ball in to the top corner for his third goal in two games.

Looking to extend the lead, Maldon continued to create chances Napa once again had a shot blocked, and Scott Kemp blazed an effort over the bar after a smart turn inside the box. Having dominated the first half, somehow the lead was only a single goal at the break.

HALF TIME | Witham Town 0 - 1 Maldon & Tiptree

At the start of the second half, the game continued in the same pattern, with the Jammers dominating whilst the hosts struggled to penetrate the Maldon defence. The chances continued to come and go with Hughes forcing Madden in to another save, whilst Ifeanyi sent an effort rocketing over the bar from the edge of the box, having skipped past several defenders.

In the 65th minute, Maldon had their second goal. Napa dribbled his way down the right hand side, delivered a pin-point cross in to the box, on to the head of Scott Kemp who sent a looping head over Madden and in to the back of the net, to score against his old side. With his side in control, Wayne Brown started to make the changes with one eye on Tuesday's cup tie, with Aaron Williams-Bushell replacing Brian Ifeanyi.

Soon after the second goal, the Jammers had their third and it came from another set piece, with Cornish providing the assist. A short one-two from a corner, allowed Cornish to deliver a cross to far post and Captain, Martyn Stokes leaped higher than all those around him, planting a bullet header in to the bottom corner, beyond Madden, adding to his two assists from last Saturday.

With the game all but won, Shomari Barnwell and Bradley McClenaghan replaced Charlee Hughes and Phil Brown-Bampoe. Maldon continued to create chances for more goals, as Joe Turpin's effort sailed over the bar and whilst Harry Taylor's effort was deflected over the bar in the dying embers. As the game concluded at three-nil, boss, Brown will have been delighted with his side collecting their first clean sheet since the opening day of the season.
