After two red cards in the first half, Paul Abrahams team were beaten at home, one-nil by Hashtag United.

With Manager Wayne Brown away on an interim basis with Colchester United, Paul Abrahams took charge and made a number of changes, some enforced. New signing, Dan Obi made his Jammers debut from the start, whilst Rob Lacey took his place on the bench.

The visitors started the game brighter and had a number of chances, courtesy of mistakes from Jammers defenders, however Tommy Dixon-Hodge remained on hand to make the saves, Love Islander, Toby Aromolaran was guilty of missing several one-on-one chances. In the 15th minute, the game was turned on his head. After a goal mouth scramble, the ball was fired at Lordon Akolbire on the goal line and to the surprise of everyone in the ground, the Referee awarded a penalty and presented Akolbire with a red card, for an apparent deliberate handball. Sam Bantick stepped up and his penalty scraped over the line, despite Dixon-Hodge getting his hand to the spot kick.

Twenty minutes later and Maldon should have had a penalty of their own. Bryan Ifeanyi was clipped inside the box, however the Referee waved play on. With the Jammers incensed at the decision, Shad Ngandu overstepped the mark with his protests and was shown a straight red card for his troubles, with the Jammers reduced to nine men. After a quick reorganisation, The Jammers looked solid in defence and despite the majority of possession the visitors struggled to penetrate the home defence.

On the stroke of half-time, Ifeanyi created space inside the Tags penalty area and had a glorious chance to level the contest, however he sent his effort wide to the relief of the Hashtag defence.

HALF TIME: Maldon & Tiptree 0 - 1 Hashtag United

Abrahams made a change at the break, with Aaron Williams-Bushell replacing Phil Brown-Bampoe. The Jammers continued to look solid in defence, despite two strikers now playing in central midfield in Shomari Barnwell and Scott Kemp. Ifeanyi led the forward line and surprisingly, the Jammers continued to offer a threat going forward. At the other end, Maldon were having to call upon Dixon-Hodge to keep them in the game and he did so superbly.

Dixon-Hodge made a string of saves, including a remarkable effort from close range, which he somehow kept out of the net by springing to his left hand side. After an impressive double save, the Maldon shot-stopper received a kick in his ribs for his troubles, however the Hashtag attacker escaped with just a yellow card. As the game flew from one end to the other, Al-Amin Kazeem almost got the goal Maldon somewhat deserved, he broke beyond four defenders and ran from his own half, his cross in to the box eventually fell to Scott Kemp, who had Maldon's best chance of the half, however Kemp's effort was caught in between the legs of Hashtag defender, as the visitors escaped.

Despite their two man advantage, Hashtag struggled throughout the evening and looked relatively poor, however continue to cling on to their one goal lead. As the Jammers pushed for an equaliser, Rob Lacey made his Jammers debut and a Ifenayi won a number of corners for the Jammers, but unfortunately they were unable to capitalise as Hashtag were fortunate to leave Park Drive with all three points, to complete the double over Maldon & Tiptree for this season.
