The Jammers made it three games unbeaten, whilst recording back-to-back clean sheets, against Great Wakering Rovers.

Interim Manager, Paul Abrahams made one change from Tuesday's draw over title chasers Aveley, with Shomari Barnwell returning to the starting eleven. Kick off was delayed by twenty minutes, due to two out of the three match officials, arriving later than planned.

On a bobbly surface, attractive football was hard to come by with the wind also adding to the difficult conditions, whilst the sun shone brightly. It was the Jammers who created the first two opportunities of the encounter. Tim Brown was on guard in the Wakering goal, making a smart save to deny Shomari Barnwell with the Jammers wondering how they were not ahead...

Moments later, Maldon went close again after smart play down the left, the ball was crossed to Bradley McClenaghan inside the penalty area but his side footed effort rebounded off the crossbar and out of play. Joe Turpin was next to go close, although his volleyed effort was saved by Brown in the home goal.

In the 40th minute, the Jammers finally were rewarded for their dominance. A clearance from Joe Turpin was superbly won by Shomari Barnwell up the other end of the pitch, Barnwell cut on to his left, beating one defender. His effort on target was blocked by a defender, before rolling in to the bottom corner for his tenth goal of the season.

On the stroke of half-time, Tommy Dixon-Hodge somehow kept his side in the game, making an outstanding and instinctive diving save to deny Billy Johnson who had already wheeled away in celebration, but for the brilliance of Dixon-Hodge.

HALF TIME: Great Wakering Rovers 0 - 1 Maldon & Tiptree

After a positive first half, the Jammers were looking to extend their lead in the second half. However, the hosts had other ideas and came out the blocks fast in the second half, hitting the post and having an effort cleared from danger, as the Maldon defence clung on to their clean sheet.

Nineteen minutes in to the second half and the Jammers extended their lead, slightly against the run of play. After Lordon Akolbire won the ball back high up the pitch, Sam Coombes delivered a pin-point cross in to the box, locating Rob Clark at the back post, who took one touch before curling his effort in to the top corner, for his first Jammers goal.

With Wakering desperate to find a way back in to the game, Maldon continued to live dangerously in defence whilst the hosts were unable to capitalise. Up the other end, Maldon continued to create chances with Brown once again denying Barnwell, whilst Turpin sent a header wide.

In the 88th minute, the Jammers were handed a good chance for a third goal. As Bradley McClenaghan was pulled to the ground in the penalty area, the Referee had no choice but to award a penalty. After being denied the chance to take the last penalty against Heybridge, Shad Ngandu got his way this time, taking control of the spot kick and was rewarded, as he beat Brown with the eyes, before rolling the ball in to the bottom corner to complete the scoring.
