Maldon & Tiptree vs Witham Town

This Saturday gives Jammers fans a final chance this season to support the team with Witham Town visiting Park Drive.

This will be the fourth match this season between the two teams. The first two fixtures saw us travel to Witham with the hosts taking the victory in both the FA Trophy, 2-0 and the league, 3-2.

When Witham visited Park Drive in February for the BBC Essex Senior Cup 4th Round we were able to exert some revenge courtesy of two goals by George Smith.

We have a chance to finish the season in 9th place with victory on Saturday however we will need a favour from local rivals Heybridge Swifts to beat Basildon Utd. We also need to be aware that Gorleston could catch us if they win at Brightlingsea Regent.

Depending on the result between Redridge and Enfield on Wednesday, Redbridge could also be in the mix with a final match against Bury Town.

Witham Town sit in 14th place on 44 points with their away performances seeing them with four wins, four draws and nine defeats with our results at home leaving us with nine wins, three draws and five defeats.

Current league form sees Witham in 9th with two wins, two draws and two defeats. They won their last match 2-0 at home to Grays Athletic. Their last away match saw them lose 1-0 to Felixstowe & Walton. Four defeats ending with our 5-2 win away at Stowmarket and the 2-2 draw at home to New Salamis see us 16th in the current league form.

Joshua olaoluwa Osude is Witham's current top goalscorer with 12 followed by Jeffrey Cobblah with 11. Both have scored against the Jammers this season.

Last season this fixture saw Witham win 1-0 with a goal by Farai Tsingano in front of 322 fans. The 2022-23 season ended with us in 15th place with 39 points and Witham once place below with 35.

The 2022-23 season saw us end with 11 wins, 6 draws and 21 defeats with a goal difference of minus 18 (40 for, 58 against). Ahead of our last match of the season we have won 15, drawn 4 and lost 16 with a goal difference of plus 5 (65 for, 60 against).

We hope to see as many of you as possible this Saturday to support the team as the season comes to a close.
