An incredible evenings entertainment from the U13 last night as we played deep into the dusk. Although we lost the game, it was one of the best performances I've seen from a really strong MCC U13 team. Well played! Bowling first, everyone bowled well. As always, Cricklade bat strong and deep but I was really impressed by the bowling accuracy and length. Excellent fielding backing up the bowlers. Highlights included Max B's wicket with his first ball (!!) and huge respect to Evie for nicely bowling 2 of the last 3 overs, with a caught and bowled off the last ball! They posted a good total, but MCC came out strong after the break. The batters did a great job in taking the game deep into the night. Rupert hit his first ever 6 (off a no-ball!) and retired on 30, Owen played all round the ground and rotated the singles nicely before Captain Henry T rolled out a sequence of cover drives that got the crowd purring to retire on 32 runs from 22 balls. 135 was a really good reply in the gloom and would have won many other games. This might be our last U13 game this season, and if so, it was a belter to finish on.... See you for the awards ceremony and pizza night during Friday night training on the 4th Sep.
