As you are aware the RFU and government guidelines means we cannot have spectators in the stadium for Senior Games until the rules change. We are on private land and the rules are clear.
A list of permitted people into the stadium has been issued to those allowed in the stadium and this is limited to the players, coaches, medical staff, water carriers and match officials. No other member should enter the stadium during the game, whatever their standing, tenure with the club or personal opinions of the situation.
This situation is gravely unfortunate and not one the Rugby Committee wanted to have to impose but the overall club must assess the risk, and the rules must be adhered to. Discussions around opening the outside bar or extending the bar area so people enjoying a COVID compliant drink, could do so in sight of the rugby pitch, not were seen as viable.
I hope the members respect this and abide by the decision and do not put the club in a difficult position. Hopefully in a few weeks’ things may change or solutions can be found to allow people in the stadium area whilst Senior rugby is being played.
