Message from your committee

Yesterday (2/6/20) the RFU released its latest guidance for clubs in relation to rugby related activities and the use of rugby club facilities.

We now know that groups of up to 6 are allowed to meet. The Club's view is that the grounds at Grove Park are open for individual members or their families to exercise on, but NOT for social gatherings until we are allowed to do so in a manner that can protect club members and visitors as well as possible.

What we need to avoid is a large number of people on the grounds at the same time, increasing the risk on site. Rest assured that the heads of each section are talking and will take a coordinated approach to ensure that we can safely return as safely and efficiently as possible.

Although guidance now suggests that rugby balls can be used by groups provided that they maintain good levels of hygiene, the Club is not considering this as the green light for formal training at the club at this time. The reason for this is in part due to June being traditionally the off-season.

We will advise in the next few weeks when and if this will be possible.

Thank you for your continued support, we hope to see you all down at Grove Park as soon as we safely can.

Your Rugby Committee

N.B. We continue to seek additional volunteers to help us run MRFC. If you are able to lend your time, expertise or knowledge it will be VERY welcomed. There are no specified time frames that you have to volunteer for, you don't have to sit in recurring committee meetings, maybe you want to help in the short term or have a specific project in mind. Please get in touch with any member of YOUR rugby committee. Thank you for your continued support.
