Manchester Rugby Club is delighted to announce that Richard McCartney has been appointed to the position of Club Captain for the 2012/13 Season.

Following his great work last season as 1st XV Captain and leading point scorer Richard McCartney has been appointed to the position of Club Captain for the 2012/13 Season.

Richard was officially appointed to the position of 1st XV Captain when Director of Rugby Getty Schinkel joined the Club in January 2012 and working together they really turned the fortunes of the Senior Section culminating in victories against Old Northamptonians and Scunthorpe.

Getty commented on the appointment: "I am delighted that Richard has not only commited himself the club again this season but that he has also agreed to take on the responsibility of Club Captain. "Rich" has the respect of everyone here at the Club and there is no doubt that he is the best man to support our team captains and act as a liasion between the players and coaches. It is exciting times here at Manchester Rugby Club and to have Richard leading our playing group is a fundamental part of that as we build to having 3 successful senior sides this season."

Richard joined Manchester at the beginning of the 2011/12 season following spells at Northern, Newcastle University & Longton.

Team Captains for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd XV's will be appointed ahead of the season opener's on 1st September.
