Manchester Senior men's 1st XV get's its season underway with a home game against Anselmians RUFC.
This Saturday (7th Sept), Grove Park will host the opening league game of both clubs' North Two West season. With both clubs having been relegated from North One West at the conclusion of the 2018/19 season, both teams will be looking to get off to a winning start with hopes of bouncing back up to Level 6.
In the immortal words of LL Cool J, however, "Don't Call it a Comeback". Following a pre-season of hardwork that has seen a few off-field in-house changes (new section chairs), Manchester have also welcomed a number of new players, without losing many (if any), the 1st XV are ready to go. The senior group of players has been boosted by the ever-productive mini & junior section, with a number of last years MAKOS players making their senior bows this weekend for all three senior men's teams.
Don't expect a 10 man game this weekend; as with every season, Manchester will look to play an entertaining, yet winning, style of rugby with ambition to score tries. Each of the senior squads follows the same mantra as those of the mini and junior section, Contactus Defectio Est (Contact is failure) so adaptation for former M&J players should be as smooth as possible.
Get yourself down to Grove Park on Saturday for this game, it should be a good'un! Kick off will be at 3pm so try to get there a bit before. Bring yourself, your partner, your kids, your dog. Invite your neighbours, your friends, your colleagues. Let's start this season strong both on and off the field. The players will look after the former but we need your help with the latter!
